Hi Everyone,
The next full weekly newsletter will be published Wed., but I just wanted to alert you to an event happening today (in person or on Zoom), June 8, at 1:30 PM, at the Derfner Judaica Museum, a part of The Hebrew Home in Riverdale: “Stuart Edelson: The Art and Activism of a Creative Hyphenate in New York.” It’s an illustrated talk by senior curator Emily O’Leary that includes a sculpture unveiling.
“In celebration of Pride Month, the Museum will be unveiling Memory Object (1973), an abstract sculpture by New York artist Stuart Edelson that has been conserved and brought back to its original high-polish, bronze finish with a grant from the Greater Hudson Heritage Network. The talk will cover Edelson's life as an artist, cultural worker, LGBTQ activist, novelist, playwright, and world traveler before his untimely death from AIDS in 1995.”
The Derfner Judaica Museum is located at 5901 Palisade Ave. in Riverdale (Hebrew Home campus). A driver’s license is necessary (free parking available). If you can, R.S.V.P. art@riverspring.org or call 718-581-1596.
Or you can register on Zoom here: http://bit.ly/42U1lz8.
Have a great Sunday, everyone!
Peace,
Jordan
