HIGHLIGHT
At the Blues BBQ festival in Manhattan’s Hudson Yards last weekend, we were sitting near this stylish woman (probably in earl late 80s/early 90s) who was moving in her chair with more energy than anyone else in sight. It wasn’t long before she was up dancing with several strangers, with many more around her gleefully taking it all in. Truly inspiring! Take a look at this short video I took …
I wanted to get her name, but when I looked for her a little bit later on, she was gone. Bummed about that. Would have loved to share this with her. And, oh, the man she was dancing with here was almost as great — and well dressed — as her!
And Some Yonkers Happenings …
Yonkers: Blue Door Art Center in downtown Yonkers features a member exhibit through Sept. 12.
Yonkers: Riverfront Art Gallery at Yonkers Public Library in the city’s downtown, features the group exhibit, “When Color Is Not Enough,” through Sept. 26. All the info right here. FREE!
Yonkers: The Hudson River Museum, just a bit above the Bronx in Yonkers, has quite a few wonderful shows going on, including a photo exhibit by Ron Tarver, “Black Cowboys in America,” which “illuminates Black cowboy life on ranches, at rodeos, and in urban streetscapes —portraits of African Americans who share a Western heritage.” It’s on until Aug. 30. All the info here.
And lastly, this tree drew my attention up at the Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden in North Salem, NY (which is in northeastern Westchester County).
